It's been over a year, and she still can't get over her ex-boyfriend. Sometimes I doubt whether she really wants to forget this guy or not. She still drops some silly comments about her boyfriend in our chats, acting like it's normal to fantasize on stuff like marrying him and stuff like that. But even if it was only a joke, EVEN SO, it would still hurt her. She would still get hurt in the end because, well I don't know, it seems like she just doesn't want to get her mind off of him. And somehow, I hate him for that. I don't know this guy, but I hate him.
Thanks to her, I've learned a few things about love that I never thought of before. Lessons I should learn in order to not get myself hurt when I'm in a relationship with someone in the future.
The first is that I will not start a relationship with someone if I think that it wouldn't work out. I would consider the prospects thoroughly. If there's a possibility that one of us is going to get hurt in the end, I will not start it. And no, I don't wanna try to work things out. Because our hearts are at stake -no, my heart is at stake. And I'm too proud to get myself hurt.
The second is I will not submit my heart to this guy, unless I'm sure he's the one I'm gonna marry. Yep, I need to be sure that I will live the rest of my life with him. Then I will give him my heart, piece by piece, step by step. I will be careful in giving it -I will try to restrain myself from giving it up all at once. So I will probably be a little cold and toughen myself up in the beginning, hoping that in the end, he will carry my heart and take care of it with all of his heart for all eternity.
So in the end, even if I had done all of the above and in the end we still have to go our separate ways and suffer from heart breaks, I know that I've already done the best I could and that it is God's will that I must go through.
Thank you, my best friend. You didn't realize, but you taught me a very valuable lesson.
